Adams 74, rated A+ overall: “Sommer set. Season medal set. MS ‘Non Vi.’ Gem silver: MS 1804 25¢. Outstanding copper: MS 1823 1¢, chain 1¢.” A highly important collection, and the first Chapman catalogue to feature full-tone photographic plates (previous sales having photographically printed plates that, while much better than halftones, do not measure up to actual photographs); while this copy is not fully plated, originals of the second and third plates are laid in. The binding was done by B.A. Martin, probably in the 1940s or 1950s; he did binding for Stack’s, Kosoff, and other New York Coin firms. Clain-Stefanelli 12031 and 12189. Davis 192.
