NICHOLAS TYERY’S PROPOSALS TO HENRY THE EIGHTH FOR AN IRISH COINAGE: INSERTED IN A MS. FRENCH HANDBOOK OF THE YEAR 1526.

Cambridge: Cambridge Antiquarian Society, 1886. 8vo, original printed green paper covers. xii, 51, (1), (4) pages; illustrated, with pages 43–51 featuring 16 lithographic depictions of coin designs finely printed on thin paper and mounted on the pages. Near fine. Item #5985

An unusual and rather scarce work, with well-printed illustrations in the section highlighted in the title. The volume reproduces a manuscript covering a variety of matters relating to coinage, much of it written in 16th-century French; the final pages provide the titular work, and are most remarkable for their illustrations, which are mounted (the pages being printed on one side only to better accommodate the wrinkling caused by the drying adhesive). The illustrations were the work of Mr. Edwin Wilson. Manville 527 (where he discusses the work in some detail).
