The classic work; the first general guide to Russian coins. Volume I recounts the history of the Russian monetary system and features an extensive bibliography. The plate volume, beyond its numerous illustrations of coins, features tables of metal production, mintages, etc. The work gained for the author the Grand Demidoff Prize of 5000 rubles.
