ANNUAL REPORT OF THE DIRECTOR OF THE MINT, FOR THE FISCAL YEAR ENDING JUNE 30th, 1868.

Philadelphia: Chase & Town, 1868. 8vo, original printed yellow paper covers. 42 pages. Presentation inscription on front cover; folded for mailing. Near fine. Item #6558

Submitted by Mint Director Henry R. Linderman to Secretary of the Treasury Hugh McCulloch, this rarely encountered Mint Report dates from the period before they received substantial circulation in government circles. In addition to providing the usual mintage figures for the American coinage, this report also comments on relevant changes to international coinages and discusses the new San Francisco Mint building that was to begin construction the following year (though it was not finished until 1874).
