A very important work, originally published in seven consecutive volumes of the British Numismatic Journal. Helen Farquhar (1859–1953) was a founding member of the British Numismatic Society and published extensively in its journal. Despite this offprint edition, there is little doubt that Farquhar’s monograph would be better known today had it been published in more conventional book form. Ex William John Hocking, with his signature on the first three installments; ex Adolph Hess Library (Peus, April 1991, lot 8129).
