Important and scarce. The nucleus of the token collection of the Royal Irish Academy, spanning the 17th to 19th centuries, was the collection of the great Irish numismatist Dr. Aquilla Smith. Especially important for Macalister’s detailed descriptions of the 17th-century tokens, for which the Williamson/Boyne descriptions are frequently insufficient.
