Quite scarce. Simpson (1833–1896) was a token specialist and assisted Williamson with his vast expansion of Boyne’s work on the 17th-century tokens. Manville 467. Ex J.S. Smallfield, with his signature, dated in the year of publication, on the flyleaf (Smallfield had assisted Boyne in his original compendium of 17th-century tokens); ex Birmingham Assay Office Library, with their small, circular stamp, and listed on page 254 of Westwood’s beautifully printed catalogue of that library.
