Beverly Hills: 1947. Original color lobby card [11 by 14 inches], printed on card stock. Folded horizontally across lower third; folds and perforations from staples in upper corners, with upper right corner having small bit of resulting loss. Very good or so. Item #5904
A color advertising card intended for display in cinema lobbies showcasing the 1947 feature The Brasher Doubloon, directed by John Brahm and starring George Montgomery as Philip Marlowe and Nancy Guild as Merle Davis. The screenplay by Dorothy Bennett and Leonard Perkin adapted Raymond Chandler’s novel The High Window, which finds private investigator Marlowe on the trail of a stolen Brasher doubloon. The card depicts Guild and Montgomery in a climactic scene. A neat piece of numismatic wall art, if perhaps a tad more lurid than most!
