Lectures on Russian pre-Petrine numismatics read by the author at the St. Petersburg Imperial Archaeological Institute. Aleksei Konstantinovich Markov (1858-1920) was from 1888 the chief curator and director of the Department of Numismatics at the Hermitage. A professor at the St. Petersburg Imperial Archaeological Institute, he was a specialist in Russian and Islamic numismatics.
